There is no railway station in kedarnath due to the remote area. The nearest railway station is Rishikesh railway station, which is located around 210 kilometers away from Kedarnath. Plenty of Express trains arrive or depart for major cities of all over India on a daily or weekly basis.

Jolly Grant Airport , Dehradun is the nearest airport of Kedarnath. It is a domestic airport, well connected with major cities in india.
Kedarnath helicopter service :
Once in Dehradun, you can enjoy your next journey by Helicopter, for kedarnath . Definitely, helicopter service is more expensive than the normal way but helicopter riding will give you an unforgettable view of the Himalayas. The only helicopter landing station is Fata near Sonprayag in Kedarnath. Public buses and shared taxis are easily available for Fata from Risikesh. The nearest heli-pad in kedarnath is almost one kilometer away from the temple. You have to cover up this distance by foot.

How to reach kedarnath from Rishikesh
From Rishikesh you have to follow highway routes to reach Sonprayag. You can’t get more route options from Rishikesh to Sonprayag. Most preferable shortest and easiest way to reach sonprayag is via Devprayag and Rudraprayag. You can easily get buses or shared texis for sonprayag from Haridwar or Rishikesh. You may also reach for sonprayag use in your own vehicle. The bus ticket cost is around 350 for per person and shared texis charges almost 1000 per person. If you are planning sonprayag on your car then you need to park your car or bike in sonprayag. Only local taxis are allowed for Gaurikund. The distance between Sonprayag to Gaurikund is four kilometers. You can also cover up this distance by foot. Local text charges 40 rupees for Sonprayag to Gaurikund.
Main sixteen kilometers long kedarnath track starts from Gaurikund. By foot it takes almost 10-12 hours( depending on your energy) to reach kedarnath dham. Local pittu ( basket carrier) and horses can help you to reach kedarnath dham.
