Gangasagar Yatra
The Gangasagar is a holy place near the Hindu religion. It is located in South 24 Parganas district. Every year many pilgrims come here for bathing in Ganga. Every year at Makar Sankranti a huge people crowded here for a bath in Ganga at the magnificent time. People came here all over the world.
Why Gangasagar is famous:
There is a very significant story behind Gangasagar. In an earlier age, there was a monk named Balmiki. He was a great generator of Lord Shiva. In the same time, there was a king name Raja Sagar. Sagar raja has 60,000 sons. once Sagar Raja Arrange The “Ashwamedha Yoga”. So he engaged his sons to protect the horses. but for the conspiracy of the divinity, they are not able to protect the horse. As a result, the priest of the sacrifice ceremony cursed the sons and turn them into asses.
Then Lord Shiva returned into the human being for the request of Sagar raja. when Gangas touch the asses then it turned into their real situation. All the things occur, where the Hoogly river meets the Ocean. Now at present days, this place is besides at the Sagardwip.so It is most popular among the pilgrims.

How can I go to Gangasagar Mela:
There is a various way to reach Gangasagar Mela or Sagar Dwip island.
1.Railway:
At first, you should reach Sealdah Sation, then take Namkhana local from the south division. The train will reach you Namkhana or Kakdwip (you can reach here from both stations). After reaching that particular station you would be crossed the river by Vessels. Passing the river you should borrow a car or bus which reach you at your destiny, Gangasagar.
2.Roadway:
The bus for that route is dispatched from Dharmatala. The first bus in a day departs at early in the morning. That bus will reach you at Loat no.8.Form There you May take a vessel to Reach your Final Destiny

3.Waterway:
The Main Gangasagar Mela is held Beside the Hooghly river estuary. At the near of Gangasagar Hoogly river falls in Bay Of Bengal. So if you want to reach Gangasagar on Waterway then You first reach estuary of Hoogly river.

where Gangasagar situated :
The main Gangasagar Mela or the temple of Kapil Muni is on an island, Sagardwip. The Gangas Is flows beside the island. This island belongs from South 24 Parganas in West Bengal. This place is about 100 km south of Kolkata.
In spite of an Island, Sagardwip is very Modern and developed place. Road, Electricity, Water supply systems are very satisfying. In the season of fair Sagardwip was covered by tight security for thousands of pilgrims.

What to see in Gangasagar :
Every year thousands of pilgrims visit here. They mainly come here on Makarsankrianty to Bath in Ganga and to show respect to their past generation.
The temple of KapilMuni is situated at the bank of the river. Due to this fair many monks specially NagaMonk Come here. They stay here all of the months.
For the based of this fair, Sagardwip was constructed very well. All over the island covered by the street lamp. Some Group of Socal works were distributed food on street, due to fair. They open their camp at some distance from another.
The pilgrims come to Gangasagar from all over the world. The government sends a huge army force due to that fair for security. They always notice everything on Sagardwip By Drone or Army vehicles.
